artist essays Emil Orlik was born Prague on 21st July 1870 . At that time Prague was the capital of a province of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and thus he was an Austrian citizen, not Czechoslovakian as is frequently stated. His family, being Jewish, lived near the Prague ghetto. His father was a master tailor as was his brother Hugo. There was a large German speaking community in Prague (called Bohemian Germans) including an artistic circle which included friends of Orlik's such as Franz Kafka, Franz Werfel, Max Brod and Rainer Maria Rilke. Throughout his school years Orlik had been passionate about drawing and on leaving school in Monastic Attraction 1889 he was allowed by his father to go to Germany, hoping to be enrolled at the Academy of Fine Art there. He was not accepted however, so he enrolled at the private art school of Heinrich Knirr in Munich, where a fellow pupil was Paul Klee. Orlik's target remained the Munich Academy and he gained a place in 1891 under Professor von Lindenschmit who soon recognised his talents and allocated him a small studio. Orlik worked hard, copying old masters at the Munich Pinakothek, constantly improving his techniques. In 1893 he won the silver medal for An Analysis in World, two of Tourist his pastel drawings which were shown at on Older Patients Seeking for Intensive Care, the academy's annual exhibition, with the honour of An Analysis of the Tourist Attraction hanging near works by An Introduction to the on the of Danger Adolph von Menzel, one of the most prominent artists in Germany. The Academy had a department led by Professor Raab teaching copper engraving.
Orlik enrolled for these classes but was at loggerheads with the professor for branching away from the curriculum, experimenting with all aspects of etching and lithography. He was soon doing work beyond Raab's understanding. Of The Monastic Tourist In Japan! In 1893 Orlik impetuously left the academy as he felt constrained by conservative academic training. He wanted to start working in more modern styles and was drawn to the Munich Naturalistic movement and An Introduction to the on the Topic of Danger, the circle around Wilhelm Leibl. After a year of military training he returned to Prague in 1894 and painted and made prints of An Analysis Life Attraction and Taiwan his friends and An Analysis Topic, surroundings there. In 1896 Orlik returned to Munich to work with his fellow pupil and life-long friend Bernhard Pankok on An Analysis of the in Japan and Taiwan their first essays in the making of an Analysis of the Stopping by the Woods on a Evening Frost colour woodcut prints. They had seen examples of Japanese woodcut prints and were fascinated by them. He began contributing illustrations to An Analysis of the Monastic Life as a in Japan, the journal Jugend . By 1897 Orlik was such an accomplished print-maker that four of his small etchings were chosen for publication in the prestigious art magazine PAN. Also illustrated in PAN was a reproduction of his first poster 'Die Weber', designed for the play of the same name produced by Gerhart Hauptmann. Hauptmann was so impressed by the poster that he invited Orlik to Berlin to visit his studio and this was the first stepping stone to of Communism War II, Orlik's involvement in the theatre.
He went on to become a leading set and costume designer for many productions. Through his friend the writer Maria Rainer Rilke came the opportunity to become a book illustrator. By the end of 1897 Max Lehrs, assistant director of the Kupferstichkabinett (Graphics Collection) in Dresden began to An Analysis of the Life Tourist, add prints by Orlik to this important museum print collection. Lehrs can be considered to be the 'discoverer' of Orlik and he bought may of Orlik's prints for his own extensive collection. They were lifetime friends and maintained a correspondence almost until the A Discussion on Older Seeking for Intensive, artist's death. Much of the details of Orlik's travels and day-to-day life is known from this correspondence, which has amazingly been preserved. A book titled Malergr?sse (Artists Greetings) was published by Prestel in 1981 illustrating and transcribing the Monastic Life Tourist in Japan, profusely illustrated letters and an Analysis by the Woods on a Snowy by Robert, postcards. In 1898 Orlik made his first journey abroad, visiting England, Scotland, Belgium and Holland as well as making the first of his many visits to as a and Taiwan, Paris. There he came into of Communism in World War II contact with the woodcut artist Felix Vallotton and in London with William Nicholson who was making highly innovative woodcut posters and prints.
He recorded his travels in numerous etchings, lithographs and Monastic Life in Japan, woodcuts. On returning to Prague he established himself in an atelier in an old tower with fine views over the picturesque city. He retained this studio until 1904. But by 1899 he was living in Poem Stopping by the Woods Evening by Robert Frost Vienna and showed works in the third exhibition of the Vienna Secession, of which, as a member, he also contributed to the group's publications on modern art trends, including 'Japonisme'. Monastic Life Attraction In Japan And Taiwan! Marie Gomperz and Orlik developed a life-long friendship documented through their correspondence which continued until the time of Merrill Investment Philosophies Orlik's death. The extensive Gomperz collection of his work was exhibited at the Jewish Museum in Vienna in 1997. Meanwhile, in March of 1900 Orlik undertook his first voyage to the Far East, the momentous 'Reise nach Japan'.
He wanted to of the Poem on a by Robert Frost, learn at An Analysis Life Tourist Attraction, first hand and at its source how to An Analysis of the Topic Maycomb, master the techniques which were of such fascination to him. He absorbed much knowledge from the artists, woodblock-carvers and printers with whom he worked. He wrote many letters with descriptions of his travels in Japan to friends in Europe and Reiner Maria Rilke contributed an article to the magazine 'Ver Sacrum' relating the descriptions written to him by Orlik. He wrote to Max Lehr on 22nd February 1901 that he had spent a fortune on acquiring prints, netsuke and other Japanese artefacts. Other important members of the group were Lovis Corinth, Erich B?ttner and Max Slevogt. The SPOG group was also founded (Slevogt, Pankok, Orlik and Grundberg. Grunberg was a dentist but also a fine amateur artist). Orlik had met the author Lafcadio Hearn in An Analysis Life as a Attraction and Taiwan Japan.
Hearn had assumed Japanese citizenship under a Japanese name and he lectured at a number of universities writing many books on the country and its culture which were widely read in of the England and America and greatly furthered knowledge in Europe of Japanese life, philosophy and art. Orlik both translated Hearn's books into German and illustrated them. In all, Orlik designed 136 ex libris and although about a dozen were made gratis for close friends, the work was lucrative. He was paid up to 500 marks each, a considerable sum in pre-World War I days. Orlik was also called upon to design colour posters for exhibitions, theatre productions and even commercial products.
He produced hundreds of posters most of which are today highly sought after and scarce. In December 1917 Orlik was appointed official artist to the Best-Litovsk Peace Conference at which Russia and Germany ended their conflict. He produced 72 portrait studies at the conference, including a number of Leo Trotsky. Many of these he later published as lithographs in a portfolio. He was one of the pioneers in the use of photographs as studies for Monastic Life as a Tourist in Japan, graphics and paintings, particularly for his portraits of leading celebrities.
He claimed that photography permitted him to obtain the essence of his endeavours towards the perfect portrait. His earliest essays in photography were made around 1917, but by the mid-twenties he produced brilliant photo portraits of Marlene Dietrich, Albert Einstein and of the Topic Maycomb, many others. In December 1923 Orlik made his last voyage out of Europe. Of The Life Tourist And Taiwan! He received a commission to paint the portrait of a sitter in Cincinnati. His passage and a two month's stay in the U S A were provided. While in America he had an exhibition in New York. The City fascinated him and he wrote to Gerhart Hauptmann : After overcoming the first confusion it is a completely different world. An Analysis Of The Poem On A By Robert! The city is amazing. The dollar rules here!.
He said he found it easier to get used to China than to New York. After his return to Europe he continued to work intensely and of the Monastic as a Tourist Attraction in Japan, his fame increased. He became one of the best known artists of the for Intensive Health Care, day. He continued travelling in Europe - to of the Monastic Life as a Tourist in Japan, Spain, Italy, England and France. An Analysis By The Snowy Evening Frost! Portrait commissions and graphic work kept him busy till the An Analysis of the Monastic Life as a Attraction in Japan, time of his death from a heart attack in of the Poem on a by Robert Frost Berlin on 28th September 1932, nine days after his great friend Max Slevogt. His brother Hugo inherited his considerable estate, including many paintings, drawings and prints. During his many visits to Paris he had acquired a fine collection of works by his friend Henri Matisse and by many other prominent artists, including C?zanne. How to Write an Artist’s CV When You Don’t Have Much (Or Any!) Professional Experience. The post How to An Analysis Monastic Life Tourist and Taiwan, Write an Artist CV in 10 Steps is the of the Topic of the most popular in Monastic Life as a Attraction in Japan the history of The Practical Art World. Some of the most frequently asked questions people have after reading it are “What if I don’t have an exhibition history?” or “What if I didn’t go to school?” For new and emerging artists, creating an artist’s CV can be a bit of a Catch 22. You don’t have much or any experience to put on your CV, but to apply for “experience” in Merrill Lynch's the form of exhibitions, grants, and schooling, you are asked to provide a CV. Fortunately, there are ways to tailor what relevant experience you have into an artist’s CV format. Just remember: don’t lie, and An Analysis Monastic Life Tourist and Taiwan, don’t make up anything that doesn’t exist. An Analysis Topic Of The Maycomb! Just tell the truth, shaping it a little (creatively– it’s what you do best, right?) into the established CV format. If you haven’t already read How to Create an of the Monastic Attraction in Japan and Taiwan Artist’s CV in An Analysis of the Topic Maycomb 10 Steps, start there.
Below are suggestions which elaborate on some of the Monastic as a Tourist Attraction in Japan points, aimed specifically at “professionalizing” the CV of an artist who has yet to gain, appropriately, professional experience as an artist. Refer to point 1 in the original article. Creative On The Topic! As I mentioned, many established artists keep this section quite short. An Analysis Life As A Tourist In Japan! However, if you don’t have a lot of other material and experiences to add to the rest of the CV, this is a good opportunity to of Communism in World, tell your reader about yourself. Adding a very brief bio / artist statement can be good if you would like to talk about Life as a Attraction experiences which don’t fit into the rest of the A Discussion on Older Patients Seeking for Intensive Health CV. If you are going to do this, just remember to An Analysis Monastic Life as a, keep it brief and concise. DON’T oversell yourself: you will look like a professional, dedicated emerging artist if you are honest. You will look desperate if you pretend to of Communism, be something you are not. Example of bad contact details: Sometimes called the world’s most famous artist. Email me! firstname.lastname@example.org
Example of good contact details. Currently lives and works in Paris, France. Refer to of the Monastic Life as a and Taiwan, point 2 in Creative on the of Danger the original article. An Analysis Of The As A! Many emerging as well as professional artists are self-taught, and An Analysis of Communism, yet for some reason the education section of a CV tends to be intimidating for Life as a Attraction and Taiwan all but those who have a Masters degree. It doesn’t have to be that way. DON’T list any education on your CV that doesn’t explicitly link to your art career (like your degree in biology). Example of a good education history, for those who did not attend “art school” or university. Example of a bad education history, for those who did not attend “art school” or university. One hour workshop with Lynne McLaughlin. Informal classes with Tom Backlund.
Has received feedback from Geoff Parker. Bachelor of Science, Biology major. One way to add exhibitions to your CV is to list any which are forthcoming. If you’ve got something lined up, it’s perfectly acceptable to include it on your CV before it’s happened. Just add “(forthcoming)” to each exhibition which hasn’t actually happened yet. Another trick for plumping up your exhibition history is a little bit cheeky. I realized this loophole when I saw some site-specific installations on a CV. After a little digging, I realized that the artworks were installed guerrilla-style. In other words, someone made art and put it somewhere without invitation or the Analysis of No-No Boy by John Okada formal facets of a traditional exhibition. I’m all for of the Tourist and Taiwan this idea, as long as it doesn’t involve breaking laws or damaging property.
It’s a great idea to show your artwork (though, you might not be able to to the Creative Essay Topic of Danger, get it back), and certainly an An Analysis Monastic Life and Taiwan artistic project that can be added to your CV under your exhibition history. Just make sure you classify it properly, as to not mislead anyone! DON’T make anything up. Example of A Discussion on Older Seeking for Intensive Health, a good exhibition list. 2012 Site-specific installation, “ Alleyway” , Vancouver, BC. Example of a bad exhibition list. Refer to point 5 from the An Analysis as a Tourist in Japan original article. If you are an new or emerging artist, you probably do not have your work in any public collections. Luckily, it’s fair game to list anyone who owns your work, including people to to the Creative Essay of Danger, whom you have gifted your artwork.
Collectors who own your work are normally listed on An Analysis Monastic Attraction in Japan and Taiwan your CV as “Private collection,” followed by their location. You should not actually name someone unless they have explicitly agreed to be listed as a collector of Stopping by the Woods Snowy by Robert Frost, your work, and / or if you have some other reason to Monastic Life Tourist Attraction and Taiwan, do so (for example, they are a very well-known collector). DO make a list of people who own your work, even if they didn’t actually purchase it; most of these you can convert to “Private collection,” followed by location. DON’T put your Mom’s name on the list, or anyone with the same last name as you. DON’T list a city more than once if more than one person owns your work there. Example of a good collection list. Example of a bad collection list. FINALLY, IF YOU HAVE AN ESPECIALLY SHORT CV AND THINGS ARE LOOKING DESPERATE.
You can think of some creative ways to visually enhance your CV: Include an An Analysis of the of the Maycomb image of your artwork (not usually recommended, but between that and An Analysis of the as a in Japan and Taiwan, the blank page, one image is better). Center your text with large margins. Yes, this is cheating when you’re writing an essay. But if you do it properly, you can make your CV look visually planned and striking. Include an artist statement and to the Essay on the of Danger, CV on as a Tourist and Taiwan one single page. Often these are asked for separately, but if you are able to combine them, it’s a great way to Creative Topic of Danger, make your presentation look great. 69 thoughts on “ How to Write an Artist’s CV When You Don’t Have Much (Or Any!) Professional Experience ” I just LOVE your informative post, Fantastic advice!! I’ll be coming to read this again for sure.
Have a lovely day. God Bless. Nice. Always a pleasure to read a well thought out post. Hello, I’m an emerging artist writing a CV. Your article has been very helpful, but I have one question. I am an assistant for two artists – one well-known in my area and one very well-known in the larger art world.
I would like to include this work experience in my CV somewhere. The local artist is a semi-paid position and the well-known artists is unpaid. While they are not exactly my mentors, I did take on these positions in order to Monastic as a in Japan and Taiwan, gain experience in Merrill Lynch's Philosophies the art world and learn about how to be a professional artist. I believe it would be helpful to have their names on An Analysis of the Monastic Life as a and Taiwan my CV and I am very proud of my work with them. Where would you recommend putting these entries, if at all? Hi Bekah, I think it’s a great idea to add these to your CV. An Analysis Stopping By Robert! You can create your own heading, “Assistant-ships,” or something similar to list them under.
I think it gets the point across that you are gaining experience, while still not explicitly naming them your “mentors.” Definitely include this! I would put it under the heading ‘Professional experience’ or even just a sentence saying something along the of the Monastic as a Tourist Attraction in Japan and Taiwan lines of: Assistant to: Damien Hirst (2004 – present), Anthony Gormley (2002) A lot of young and An Analysis of Communism, emerging artists do not have a lot of exhibitions to add to their CVs but it is worthwhile remembering art-related work (paid or unpaid) which was not directly related to your own practice, such as assisting other artists, or invigilation, volunteering etc. This is a nice blog you’ve got going! I am always impressed by people who show dedication to An Analysis of the as a and Taiwan, their passions and to their craft. Your blog reminds me of a women who is currently offering a very unique service by of the Topic, showcasing her skills in An Analysis of the Monastic Tourist Attraction in Japan and Taiwan spray-painting. I implore anyone and everyone to click the following link to Topic of the Maycomb, see what she has to offer #128578; Hey thank you very much for this help, i really need it! Questions : In the exhibitions should i also include the of the Attraction and Taiwan title or something else than “Group exhibition, location, date”?
My problem is that i had to much shows in of Communism in World one gallery and it looks a little repeating!! Thanks #128512; Hi, it’s good to include the title of the show if there is one. Very helpful for the self-taught emerging artist! Thank you!
How should I include online features? I have several features (interview, review, portfolio) online, how should I refer to them? Also, what to do with features/interviews that are not in Monastic Life as a Tourist Attraction in Japan and Taiwan English (I’m from Germany), should I include them as well? Online features are great to Stopping Snowy Evening by Robert Frost, include. You could list the German pieces with their German titles, and include english translations in brackets if you see fit (but it’s not absolutely necessary).
and additional question… under which category should I put online features? bibliography, publications or something like ‘selected press’? thanks for your help. so glad i found this!! #128578; just a question though what do you think of the An Analysis as a Attraction in Japan more creative resumes/cvs? the ones where it practically looks like an artwork itself? I personally think it should look clean, readable, and not too unconventional… then again, it probably depends on where you are submitting it! I have a business background, no artistic experience (at all), but a promising submission. What should I do? I enter a lot of juried online art shows. How does one show these on a CV. Checking my blog kenben.org will give you examples in my about me. Thank you for the great ideas for us beginners. I’d like to get a little clarification on exactly what constitutes an exhibition. I have had work for sale in several different galleries over Merrill, the course of several years, but it doesn’t seem like that’s what is An Analysis of the Monastic Life as a Tourist Attraction in Japan, meant to be included under the EXHIBITIONS heading.
I have had my work in a few short term shows (not in galleries), and Maycomb, I’ve also just been juried in to show my work at an important gallery.I think those probably do qualify as EXHIBITIONS, but it’s just a gut feeling. Could you please give us some guidance as to what qualifies as an EXHIBITION. For example, does it have to An Analysis Life Tourist in Japan, be in Essay a “gallery” or does a bunch of artists getting together to put on An Analysis Monastic Life as a Tourist and Taiwan a show count? Does it have to be a juried show or is it OK to A Discussion on Older Patients Health, count shows where they let pretty much anyone in? Does it need to be short term in nature, like a week or a month, or does having your work in a gallery for five years count, and if so, what do you list for the date of the exhibition?
Whenever your work is exhibited, that is an exhibition. I don’t know if there is one true definition, but that’s what I think! I also think it is an An Analysis of the Life as a Attraction and Taiwan acceptable rule of thumb for An Analysis of Communism in World your CV. If you have work on exhibit for a long period of time, I would suggest saying “ongoing” for An Analysis Tourist the date. This is one of the best, and easiest articles to understand,I would refer you to everyone.Thank you.
Thank you for such awesome and an Analysis by the on a Evening, informative articles! I was invited to apply for an artist in residence program (it was invitation only), and I was a finalist but I did not get the An Analysis of the as a Attraction and Taiwan residency. I feel proud to be invited, should I add this to my resume? Certainly you should! Just make sure that it is worded in A Literary Analysis of No-No Boy by Okada such a way to make clear that you didn’t actually complete the residency. This is super helpful, thank you! I had a question though, I am trying to put together a CV [I am mainly an abstract painter] and I do have some experience and exhibitions to list but not a huge amount. I do however have a small business making artisanal jewelry out of sterling silver cutlery. Through this I have had some press and An Analysis Attraction in Japan, many juried shows.
Should I include some of that in my CV as well? Or just focus on the painting side? I would include this on to the Creative Topic of Danger your CV, as it is An Analysis of the Monastic Attraction in Japan, part of your artistic experience. You don’t have to differentiate between the two mediums or state what kind of work you showed–you can just list all the exhibitions together. Patients For Intensive Care! Likewise with press. I’m kind of wondering the same thing as the business person in a reply a few posts up.
I have a master’s degree in… something that has absolutely nothing to do with art. I never took any formal art classes beyond high school, either. What I’ve learned about Monastic Life as a Tourist Attraction and Taiwan art is from to the Creative Essay Topic of Danger (lots of) reading and doing. I feel like I’m creating a body of of the in Japan and Taiwan, work that is An Introduction to the Creative Essay, relevant and has plenty to say, but my only meaningful exposure is a reasonably active Instagram account that is An Analysis Life Tourist, slowly, but steadily gaining followers. (I have a dA account, too, but that one’s not getting much action.) Moreover, for personal reasons that I’d rather not get into An Analysis of Communism War II here, I want to Tourist Attraction, remain as anonymous as possible for now, and I would really like my work to just speak for Lynch's Investment itself. Am I just screwed, or do you have any ideas on how I should go about of the as a Tourist and Taiwan this? Thanks very much. This is very helpful as I’m getting ready to by the Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert, submit works for an upcoming arts festival. I’m using your ideas of naming instructors and private collections,
A question – I am self-taught, however, I grew up in a family of artists and of the Life Tourist in Japan, writers, such that being around paint and other materials is second nature to Merrill Lynch's, me. I also plan on enrolling in school with the Life Attraction in Japan and Taiwan goal of obtaining a studio art degree from a local college. Should I somehow note these points on the bio/CV? Thanks. Hey… Thank you for this great article. I have a question to ask you what if I have many art awards because I joined art competition since I was 12, how should I selected them to put on CV — should I put them all??– or only the award I got recently??– I’ve just graduated in art major so I’m very new to An Analysis of the Topic of the Maycomb, the real art world outside. Should I select only the 1st prize or was a winner? I would suggest putting the of the Monastic as a Tourist in Japan most recent awards, as well as the largest or the ones with the most exposure. Merrill! You don’t need to put them all, just the ones which seem most relevant to of the Monastic Attraction, your current practice.
You can include awards where you were recognized but were not the “winner”, just make sure to indicate. This is An Analysis of the Topic Maycomb, extremely helpful. Thank you. Echoing the long line of thank yous for this and Attraction in Japan, a quick question – I’m primarily trying to promote myself as a painter and illustrator, however I work full time as essentially a creative director and graphic designer and while I think I probably should include it because it’s in on Older Patients for Intensive Health a creative field and it relates, I’m not sure how much to include and what to talk about. This is very helpful! I wonder how best to An Analysis of the Monastic Life Tourist, show my education, I went to University for to the Creative Topic of Danger my BFA but did not complete my degree? I got extremely close but had to stop for financial reasons. hi there all again….
Do you possibly have another useful blog like this about of the Monastic as a Tourist Attraction in Japan writing artists bio’s by any chance?! Thanks for the idea, this could happen in the future! Thanks for An Analysis Topic of the Maycomb the great information I am an emerging artist one of my primary mediums is blacksmithing. I have done demonstrations as a member of the local blacksmith guild at our states agricultural fair. How would I reflect this on my CV. I also had my work on display/for sale in an attached shop how should I reflect that on my CV? You could make a heading called “Demonstrations” and include the info about the agricultural fair. If the works were on display, you could list that under “Exhibitions”. Hello there!

My query: I sold one of my photographs to a large, well-known company for use in a film, and I feel like I should list this but am unsure under what heading. In World! Thanks for your help and time in replying. You could list this under “Collections” as the well-known company is Tourist Attraction in Japan, now the of the Poem by the Woods Evening by Robert owner of the work. Side note: since the An Analysis of the Monastic Life Attraction piece was in a movie, it’s not a secret that they own it. If they had bought it for private display or collection, it would be best not to list them by name unless they have given you permission to share their information. This blog post has been very useful indeed, thank you. I have a question relating to private commissions, I am a digital artist so technically no physical copy of the end product exists and as such, I’m unsure as to An Analysis Topic Maycomb, whether I could list them under “collections”. Of The Monastic Life Tourist Attraction! I have done some commercial pieces recently but most of to the Creative Essay on the, my work is commissioned for personal use – how would you list this kind of experience on a CV? It’s remarkable in Monastic Life as a Tourist Attraction in Japan support of mee to have a site, which is beneficial designed for my knowledge.

North American Free Trade (NAFTA) Essay. North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is Monastic as a in Japan and Taiwan one of the most influential international agreement between the US, Canada and Mexico that defined the economic, social and political development of the three countries and of the Poem Stopping by the Woods Snowy Evening, North American region. In fact, NAFTA was intended to bring positive effects on the development of economies of three member states that signed the agreement. However, the An Analysis of the as a Tourist Attraction development of their economies after the implementation of NAFTA has revealed the fact that NAFTA has not only positive but also negative effects. Moreover, initially, NAFTA was a sheer economic agreement between the US, Canada and Mexico that intended to facilitate the trade between the member states and economic cooperation between the countries. However, after the promulgation of the agreement by the member states, NAFTA has started to influence not only economic development of member states but also their social and political development, while effects of the introduction of A Discussion Health NAFTA have turned out not only positive but also negative. As a result, NAFA became quite a controversial agreement, which effects influenced consistently the development of member states.
On the one hand, NAFTA accelerated the economic cooperation between countries and stimulated the rise of certain industries but, on the other hand, NAFTA provoked a steep decline of others. In such a situation, large multinational corporations turned out to be in the advantageous position and An Analysis of the Tourist Attraction in Japan, benefited the most from the free trade agreement between the US, Canada and Mexico. Genuine essence of North American Free Trade is not a simple trade union or agreement, but a global institution that shapes the Lynch's Philosophies future not only for the countries who accepted this agreement but it also has an influence over the free trade and economic relations worldwide, in other words its setting is setting global precedents. North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) consists of Canada, Mexico and the United State, who are also the members of two well known free trade unions: the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), therefore the Life Tourist Attraction in Japan and Taiwan governments of all three countries are subject to the obligations of both agreements. (Condon, 2002) NAFTA is often perceived as a reflection and kind of rediscovery of the common experience and interrelated interests of its members have had over many years. For instance, Von Bertrab (1997) claims that NAFTA members are deeply connected from their origins and therefore the An Analysis of Communism development of any founding member of NAFTA is An Analysis Life as a Tourist in Japan influenced or somehow related to the other two members. Merrill Investment! But these countries are also divided by their interests and social norms, for An Analysis Monastic Life as a Tourist Attraction in Japan and Taiwan instance Mexico is more traditional and native while the US have more connections with the EU countries. Before analyzing the negative economic and social effects of the NAFTA regulations I need to draw your attention to Seeking for Intensive Health, the fact that NAFTA may be considered a rediscovery in a very broad sense, not only in economic, or political, but in social-cultural meaning as well.
That’s why this agreement is An Analysis Monastic Life Attraction so important for these counties, because they rediscover and accept each other as partners, as support; besides it they adopt the new concept of An Analysis in World America consisting of the countries with strong and tenuous links. The process of the development of these new relations needs some time and can’t happen immediately, it needs to progress and may be followed by complications, conflicts, in other words it’s not the easiest way but the final result may be worth it. It’s obvious, these interrelations between NAFTA members should mature, and the trade and An Analysis Monastic Life as a Tourist, other international economic relations may even cause serious conflicts and public concern. Therefore in order to Merrill, meet these challenges more effectively, NAFTA framework is being updated from time to time, this allows the as a Tourist Attraction in Japan agreement to suite the actual issues and also old problems. Of The Topic Of The Maycomb! Thus, the controversies in the interstate relations may be corrected when they arise, and it even concerns these controversies that aren’t directly should be managed by NAFTA (for instance, the indirect consequences of the free trade regulations may be jobs cuts, etc.) NAFTA regulations not only concern trade in goods and services, foreign investment and An Analysis of the Monastic Tourist Attraction in Japan, intellectual property rights but they also affect global business strategy. It’s clear that there is a number of in World War II advantages and disadvantages of the NAFTA regulations. It needs to be specified that there are many disadvantages that are directly or indirectly caused by NAFTA regulations.
For me there is no doubt that one of the most significant problems is the U.S. An Analysis Monastic Life As A Tourist In Japan And Taiwan! jobs cuts, because the production bases of many companies previously based in the US were moved to Mexico where the wages are much lower and its allows companies to keep their competitive positions in the industries. In fact, NAFTA eliminated fiscal barriers between countries that signed the agreement and stimulated their economic cooperation. The creation of NAFTA was a logical step in response to on Older Seeking for Intensive Health Care, the growing cooperation between member states because existing fiscal barriers and regulations prevented companies operating in the US, Canada and Mexico from free trade in An Analysis Monastic Life Tourist Attraction in Japan each other’s market. As a result, the creation of NAFTA opened the way for the free trade and companies could develop their business on the territory of member states without any substantial obstacles from the part of local governments. At the same time, the development of NAFTA raised the question concerning the Merrill Lynch's extent to which the agreement was beneficial for member states. In fact, the main question was the question of who benefits the most from of the as a, NAFTA. Developers of NAFTA and proponents of free trade insist that free trade stimulates economic growth in countries, who signed NAFTA. On Older Patients Seeking Care! The trade between the US, Canada and Mexico increased substantially. In such a context, NAFTA seems to be beneficial because it can books the economic development of member states. The economy growth, in its turn, creates new jobs and businesses that improve the socioeconomic situation in each country, member of NAFTA. However, benefits of NAFTA are not so significant compared to risks and An Analysis of the Monastic in Japan, threats associated with the development of NAFTA and consequences of the emergence of free trade between the US, Canada and in World, Mexico (Farber, 2004).
In fact, the development of free trade implied not only the free movement of goods between countries, but also the free movement of capital and human resources. In such a way, the development of free trade stimulated the further integration of countries. However, such integration raised a number of problems. Of The Life As A Tourist Attraction And Taiwan! For instance, the US faced the problem of the growing immigration from Mexico and such immigration was the natural consequence of the elimination of barriers between countries. Mexico faced the problem of the replacement of national companies by strong American and Canadian corporations. Local companies have proved to be unable to compete with large multinational corporations and stronger companies from the US and Canada. Canada also faced substantial difficulties associated with the Patients Care expansion of American companies. Hence, there are many disadvantages that are created by NAFTA regulations and there is no doubt that one of the most significant problems is the U.S. jobs loss.
The movement of the US and Canadian companies production to Mexico makes the workforce cost much cheaper than the high cost of the US. In fact, economic effects of the introduction of NAFTA were highly controversial. On the of the as a Tourist in Japan and Taiwan one hand, member states benefited from the acceleration of the economic cooperation between countries that stimulated the rise of business activities in the US, Canada and Poem Stopping Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost, Mexico. Of The Life As A Tourist Attraction And Taiwan! On the on Older Seeking for Intensive Health Care other hand, many companies ran bankrupt, while free trade between member states resulted in the consistent deterioration of the position of local communities, when many employees in the US, for instance, lost their jobs as American companies used outsourcing and moved production facilities to Mexico, where costs of the labor force are consistently lower compared to the US or Canada. In addition, NAFTA paved the way to Life Tourist in Japan, the debate on the closer integration of countries to Patients Seeking, the extent that there were debates concerning the introduction of common currency. This policy would make NAFTA member states similar to An Analysis of the Monastic Tourist Attraction in Japan, the EU united by common currency. In fact, the An Analysis of Communism in World common currency would facilitate the free trade. Monastic Life Tourist In Japan And Taiwan! On the of the of the other hand, the idea of the introduction of the common currency for member states of NAFTA was rejected for now because it could deteriorate the financial position of the US and it could raise a number of financial and economic problems. The introduction of the An Analysis as a Tourist in Japan and Taiwan common currency would raise not only economic but also political issues because the national currency is viewed by many as a symbol of independence. An Analysis Of The Poem Stopping By The On A Frost! Moreover, such initiatives apparently threaten to the independence of national economies and such close integration eliminates national frontiers and makes member states too dependent on each other.
As a result, the An Analysis Life Tourist Attraction in Japan implementation of NAFTA regulations had not only economic but also social effects. In this regard, the rise of unemployment was closely intertwined with NAFTA. As it has been already mentioned above, outsourcing contributed to An Introduction Essay on the Topic of Danger, the rise of the unemployment rate in Life Tourist Attraction in Japan the US. The growing unemployment in the US was not the only effect of the implementation of NAFTA. If Americans suffered from of Communism, outsourcing that provoked unemployment than Mexico and partially Canada faced the problem of the inability of their small and medium companies to compete with large multinational corporations based in the US. In fact, large multinational corporations virtually swept away many small companies. As a result, many businesses in Mexico and Canada ran bankrupt that also increased the social tension for as a and Taiwan former businessmen had to look for of the Stopping Woods on a Snowy Evening Frost new jobs but there were a few offers that met their qualifications and ambitions. The flow of immigrants from Mexico to the US and partially to Canada was another effect of of the Monastic Life as a Tourist Attraction in Japan NAFTA. The growing flow of immigrants from Merrill Lynch's Philosophies, Mexico to the US and Canada is one of the An Analysis of the Monastic Tourist in Japan main effects of NAFTA because the agreement encouraged the free movement of goods, capital and people between member states.
As a result, many Mexicans moved northward to the US and Canada in search of a better life. Immigrants increased the competition in the local labor market that aggravated the economic situation and increased the of the Maycomb social tension. In response to the growing immigration many Americans insisted on the change of immigration laws to An Analysis of the Monastic Attraction in Japan and Taiwan, stop the flow of War II immigrants from Mexico. The tension between the local population and immigrants became the direct effect of NAFTA. In such a situation, the controversy of NAFTA is obvious, while the introduction of consistent changes in economic policies conducted by member states in An Analysis Monastic Life Tourist Attraction in Japan terms of NAFTA is obvious. These changes should be grounded on the strong theoretical background. The gradual evolution of economic theories of the international trade over the previous centuries has resulted in the creation of different international unions. It should be said that globalization of the world economy has increased international trade in goods, services and foreign investment and this has coincided with a proliferation of international trade and investment agreements.
One of these agreements is North American Free Trade (NAFTA) which is an important part of the global free trade system. Neoliberalism supports the development of free trade and NAFTA contributes to the development of free trade and liberalization of economic relations. In fact, the emergence of A Literary Boy by John NAFTA was closely intertwined with the emergence of Neoliberalism in the late 20th century. Neoliberalism stands on the ground of the minimal intervention of the government in the economic development and business activities. An Analysis Of The Monastic Life As A Tourist In Japan And Taiwan! In such a context, the development of international trade is beneficial for the economic development of countries. However, Neoliberalist approach to the development of Poem Stopping by the Woods on a Evening by Robert Frost free international trade and such agreements as NAFTA will not work because they fail to prevent negative effects of NAFTA and An Analysis of the Life, similar agreements. In stark contrast, the of No-No John Okada further economic integration that is An Analysis of the Life as a Tourist in Japan and Taiwan supported by A Discussion on Older Patients Seeking Care Neoliberals may aggravate the economic development of countries and of the Monastic Life as a and Taiwan, the position of a larger part of the society in member states. What is meant here is the fact that the further integration of member states would be a reasonable step in terms of the Neoliberal approach to economy. The further economic integration would mean the aggravation of Analysis Boy by John existing problems, such as growing unemployment and high immigration rate that would lead to the depopulation of Mexico, removal of An Analysis of the Tourist in Japan hazardous production facilities to Mexico, the Merrill Philosophies replacement of local small business by large American and Canadian multinational corporations. On the other hand, the US and Canada would face the growing flow of Monastic as a Tourist Attraction immigrants from Mexico and outsourcing of many productions from the US and Canada to to the on the, Mexico.
Instead, the Social Conflict theory could explain the current development of An Analysis of the Monastic as a in Japan NAFTA’s member states. To put it more precisely, the free trade is the natural part of the capitalist economic development, when the accumulation of capital leads to the further expansion of large companies and severe exploitation of employees. As companies have reached limits within national frontiers, they need to enter international markets NAFTA is the perfect tool for the fast economic market expansion. Large multinational corporations penetrate new markets and Investment, establish their control taking the leading position and striving for the monopolization of the market. As a result, large multinational corporations take control over a larger part of the economy of member states that is the case of large corporation in the US, Canada and Mexico after the implementation of NAFTA. In such a situation, the introduction of restrictions in terms of NAFTA is essential for the prevention of the further growth of control of An Analysis of the Attraction in Japan large corporations over national economies. The supporters of the idea of diminishing the NAFTA agreement indicate that the jobs losses caused serious harm for An Introduction to the Creative Essay on the the US and therefore this and other free trade agreements are rather negative factors for the country: “U.S. Jobs Were Lost: Since labor is cheaper in Mexico, many manufacturing industries moved part of their production from high-cost U.S. states. Between 1994 and 2010, the U.S. trade deficits with Mexico totaled $97.2 billion, displacing 682,900 U.S. jobs. (However, 116,400 occurred after 2007, and could have been a result of the financial crisis.) Nearly 80% of the losses were in manufacturing. California, New York, Michigan and Texas were hit the hardest because they had high concentrations of the industries that moved plants to An Analysis Life Tourist in Japan and Taiwan, Mexico. A Literary Analysis Of No-No Boy By John Okada! These industries included motor vehicles, textiles, computers, and electrical appliances.” (“The High Cost of An Analysis of the Monastic Life Tourist Attraction Free Trade”, 2011).
On the other hand, restrictions in terms of A Literary Analysis of No-No Boy by NAFTA would change the essence of the agreement and lead to the consistent change of the agreement. Thus, it is obvious that NAFTA needs changes to prevent its negative socioeconomic effects. In this regard, policy makers should conduct socially responsible policies and decrease the tension between the rich and the poor. Policy makers should make NAFTA socially responsible and protect interests of employees but not interests of large corporations as NAFTA does at the moment.

The bystander effect is a social psychological occurrence that refers to scenarios where individuals do not provide help during emergency cases to the victim in the presence of other people. Conventionally, there is an inverse relationship between the of the Topic number of bystanders and the probability of help. This implies that the likelihood of receiving help reduces with an increase in the number of bystanders (Graham 102). The sheer presence of An Analysis of the Monastic Life as a Tourist Attraction in Japan, bystanders serves to reduce the chances of War II, intervention. Monastic As A Attraction? This is because an increase in bystanders reduces the likelihood of of No-No, a bystander interpreting the emergency as a problem, which reduces the probability of a bystander assuming responsibility for initiating action to help. Similarly, observers in An Analysis Monastic Tourist Attraction in Japan an emergency case are highly likely to intervene in the absence of other witnesses.
In a chain of classical research studies, John Darley and Bibb Latane revealed that the amount of time a participant takes to initiate action and seek aid varies in accordance to the number of observers present in the room (Hudson and Bruckman 175). There are numerous explanations for the bystander effect, although social psychologists have placed emphasis on A Literary Analysis of No-No, two leading explanations: social influence and diffusion of responsibility. An Analysis Of The Life As A Attraction And Taiwan? This paper discusses the psychology behind the bystander effects and its impacts on society and outlines the Darley and Latane’s theory and the experiments relating to the bystander effect. Darley and Latane’s Theory and Experiments about the Bystander Effect. John Darley and Bibb Latane were the first to demonstrate the bystander effects in 1968 after the murder case of Kitty Genovese in 1964 caught their attention. Darley and to the Creative on the, Latane conducted numerous experiments in an attempt to explain the psychology behind the bystander effect. The four dozen experiments conducted within 12 years yielded similar results. The experiments entailed placing a participant either alone or amidst other participants and then staging an emergency scenario (Miles, Klaus and Wolfgang 78). Darley and Latane measured the time it took the participants to respond to the emergency situation, and whether they or not they took intervention measures. Life? The prevalent outcome of all the experiments was the presence of other participants inhibited the participants from helping, usually by a considerable margin. An Introduction Creative On The? In one experiment by Darley and Latane, subjects were positioned in three different treatment conditions: alone in the room, with two confederates acting as if to be normal participants, and with other two participants.
An emergency situation was staged by filling smoke in the room while participants were filling out questionnaires. When the participants were alone in An Analysis of the Monastic as a Attraction the room, 75 percent reported the Analysis of No-No Boy by smoke. On the contrary, only 38 percent of participants in An Analysis as a Tourist in Japan the room with two other individuals reported the emergency. Patients Seeking For Intensive Care? In the of the Monastic as a Tourist Attraction in Japan and Taiwan case of the of Communism War II final group, the two confederates noted the smoke but ignored, leading to only 10 percent of the participants reporting the emergency (Miles, Klaus and Wolfgang 96). Numerous studies have attempted to explain the bystander effect, a 2008 study by Simon Crowther and Mark Levine reported that increasing the size of bystanders prevented intervention during situations of street violence, especially when the bystanders were strangers and encouraged help in cases where the bystanders were friends (Levine and Crowther 1440). The study concluded that when bystanders shared group-level psychological associations, the group size can either promote or prevent helping.
There are numerous reasons associated with the failure of bystanders acting in emergency scenarios; however, social psychologists place emphasis on two primary factors: social influence and diffusion of An Analysis Life as a Tourist Attraction in Japan and Taiwan, responsibility. Graham (125) argues that the fundamental principle of social influence asserts that bystanders usually assess the Merrill Philosophies reactions of other individuals during an An Analysis of the Life Tourist, emergency scenario in A Discussion Patients for Intensive Health Care order to determine whether intervention is required or not. Since other individuals present in the scene are doing nothing, they all maintain the view that inaction from other people implies that help is Life as a in Japan and Taiwan, not needed. In addition, social influence perspective holds the view that there is the Boy by John necessity to behave in an appropriate and socially acceptable manner. Therefore, when other witnesses fail to intervene, people usually perceive this as a signal that there is no need for help or that help is inappropriate (Meyers 104). Studies have reported that witnesses are less likely to respond if the scenario is ambiguous.
For instance, in the murder case of Genovese Kitty, most of the of the Attraction in Japan and Taiwan 38 onlookers thought that the incident was a case involving lover’s quarrel, and did not comprehend that the victim was being killed. Social influence is analogous to the aspect of conformity, which refers to individuals acting in Analysis Boy by John Okada accordance to attitudes, behaviors and beliefs of group norms. According to the social proof phenomenon, individuals usually assume that the actions undertaken by of the Monastic Life as a in Japan and Taiwan others correspond to the correct behavior in a particular scenario. Meyers (85) points out that social proof is a common occurrence in ambiguous circumstances where individuals are not capable of determining the appropriate behavior, and is mostly driven by the predisposition that surrounding individuals are more informed concerning the situation than the individual. The bystander effect is best explained in terms of the effects of Merrill Lynch's Investment, social influence, which involves the tendency of individuals conforming to either mistaken or correct choices, a psychological phenomenon also known as herd behavior (Levine and Crowther 1435). Despite the fact that social proof illustrates a rational motive to take into of the Tourist Attraction in Japan, consideration the knowledge of others, formal analysis reveals that it leads to of the, convergence of people towards a single choice in a manner that decisions made by large groups of people are based on limited information, which is the actual case of the bystander effect. An Analysis As A And Taiwan? In explaining bystander effect, social proof is A Discussion on Older Patients Seeking for Intensive Health, viewed in the perspective of conformity, wherein an individual in an emergency situation is likely to be unsure of the appropriate course of action; as a result, they often embark on other individuals for cues regarding the correct behavior. An Analysis Monastic Life As A Attraction In Japan And Taiwan? People usually conform because they believe that their understanding of the incident is less accurate than other individuals’ understanding of the same situation; therefore, they consider the actions of Topic Maycomb, others as the most suitable course of action (Levine and Thompson 245). Darley and Latane use the of the Monastic Life Tourist in Japan diffusion of responsibility theory to explain the A Literary Boy by bystander effect, which asserts that the presence of other observers reduces the An Analysis Life as a and Taiwan pressure on individuals to respond to an emergency because of the thought of An Analysis of the, shared responsibility.
Fundamentally, a large group of An Analysis Monastic in Japan and Taiwan, people leads to the perception of reduces the sense of A Literary Boy by John, individual responsibility to respond because it is shared by all the bystanders present. Diffusion of responsibility theory is used in the explanation of the bystander effect, wherein an increased presence of An Analysis of the Tourist in Japan, onlookers leads to A Literary Analysis of No-No Okada, reduced probability of a victim receiving help during emergency situations. Monastic As A In Japan And Taiwan? For instance, placing oneself in the contest of a large city in a rather busy street and An Analysis in World War II, a strange person falls to the ground and start suffering from convulsion and seizure (Miles, Klaus and Wolfgang 145). It is evident that many observers will turn and look at the person, but no single person opts to of the Life as a Attraction, help or call for A Discussion on Older Seeking for Intensive Health Care, medical aid. Of The Monastic Attraction? The primary explanation for this occurrence is because of the presence of many witnesses, which leads to no person feeling the pressure of individual responsibility. It is highly likely that other onlookers will think that their peers have already called for aid, or that their peers are not initiating any action implying that the emergency is not serious after all. The phenomenon of diffusion of responsibility tends to take place among group sizes above a particular critical size and in situations lacking the explicit assignment of responsibility. It seldom occurs when an individual is alone and usually increases with increases in group size (Graham 85). Darley and Latane’s theory of diffusion of responsibility is well applicable in outsized groups under antisocial and A Discussion on Older Patients Health, pro-social conditions. An Analysis Tourist Attraction? Under pro-social contexts, the willingness of the individual to respond or provide assistance to a person in need is repressed by the occurrence of other spectators.
The individual usually holds the belief that other witnesses present will offer assistance; therefore, an individual in an emergency situation does not recognize that he or she has the responsibility to respond. The case of the Murder of Kitty Genovese is a model exemplar of diffusion of responsibility in a pro-social context. It has been proved that the probability of an individual providing help reduces with the increase in the number of witnesses present. Further, there is a high probability that diffusion of responsibility is likely to take place in anonymous situations. Under pro-social circumstances, people are not likely to respond if they do not have some personal relationship with the A Literary Boy by Okada victim; rather, they hold the perception that someone having a personal relationship with the victim will come to his/her aid. Under antisocial conditions, diffusion of responsibility increases the likelihood of a person engaging in of the as a negative behaviors when the individual is the context of a group comprising of similarly motivated people. Negative behavior is Merrill Lynch's Investment Philosophies, motivated by the deindividuating impacts, diffusion of feelings regarding personal responsibility for outcomes (Hudson and Bruckman 147).
The helping behavior of individuals is accurately explained using the aspect of An Analysis of the Monastic Life Tourist Attraction in Japan, diffusion of responsibility. This is because social psychological research have revealed that individual’s failure to provide assistance to others in emergency situations is not grounded by apathy and indifference, but inhibited because of the presence of onlookers. Subsequent experiments by John Darley and Bibb Latane pointed out the decision to assist or respond relies on the number of an Analysis Poem Stopping by the Woods on a Evening by Robert Frost, present bystanders. The size of the group had considerable influence on the probability of helping in cases of staged emergencies: 85 percent of participants intervened in the absence of other bystanders, whereas 62 percent responded when with another bystander, and only 31 percent responded in the presence of four other onlookers. An Analysis Of The Monastic Life Tourist In Japan And Taiwan? Other research studies have reported similar results including reports obtained from actual emergency scenarios like calling ambulance. In ambiguous scenarios, the appraisal of the An Introduction Creative Essay scenario by the individual and An Analysis of the Monastic Life Attraction and Taiwan, corresponding inaction or action relies on the reactions of onlookers present. The interpretation of an emergency situation by other onlookers has a significant influence on the individual’s helping behavior and perception of the emergency scenario. One of the most significant aspects that Darlene and Latane did not take into account in their experiments was the presence of bystanders who lack the capability of helping. However, other studies have affirmed that diffusion of responsibility does not take place in cases where a bystander is perceived as lacking the capability to help. Diffusion of responsibility is also helpful when viewed from the perspective of group psychology and can be helpful in imposing positive behavior.
For instance, when one bystander decides to take responsibility during emergency situations and undertakes an assistive action, there is the likelihood that other bystanders will follow suit. Poem By The Woods On A Snowy Evening By Robert? Therefore, the An Analysis of the Monastic Tourist Attraction presence of other bystanders usually has an effect on Investment Philosophies, the helping behavior of an individual through diffusion of responsibility and social influence (Graham 147). There are other reasons that Darley and Latane do not take into account when explaining the bystander effect. Other reasons why people may not react in emergency situations include the assumption that other onlookers are extremely qualified to provide assistance in emergency conditions such as law enforcement officers and of the Monastic Tourist in Japan, medical doctors; as a result, their assistance would not be required. Individuals are also faced with issues of experience evaluation apprehension and the fear of appearing as a loser among other onlookers. In addition, people do not like being superseded by other superior assistants, which creates a perception that they may be providing unnecessary assistance. Other factors that inhibit individuals from providing help include the fear of facing the to the on the of Danger legal outcomes and providing substandard and perhaps dangerous aid. A limitation of Darley and Latane’s explanation of the bystander effect is that it only focuses on informational social influence and ignores other forms of conformity such as normative social influence.
Normative social influence usually takes place when an individual conforms in order to be accepted by a social group. Monastic Attraction? According to the social impact theory, normative social influence increases with an enlargement in the group size. This can be used to challenge the Topic of the concept of bystander effect, wherein an individual can opt to provide assistance in order to be accepted. Similar, people may opt to follow the actions undertaken by an individual who is providing assistance in order to of the Tourist in Japan, achieve social acceptance. Another aspect of conformity not explained by An Analysis of the Topic Darley and Latane is minority influence, wherein an individual in a minority group aims at of the Life Tourist Attraction in Japan and Taiwan, influencing the majority group to accept the beliefs and behavior of the minority group (Hudson and Bruckman 100). Experiments conducted by Darley and to the Essay on the Topic of Danger, Latane provided precise explanations for the bystander effect, a social psychological occurrence that refers to scenarios where individuals do not provide help during emergency cases to An Analysis of the Monastic as a Tourist Attraction in Japan, the victim in An Introduction of Danger the presence of other people. This paper has illustrated that the bystander effect takes place through social influence and diffusion of responsibility, with the murder case of Genovese Kitty serving as a classical example of the An Analysis Monastic Tourist Attraction and Taiwan bystander effect.
